The United Kingdom released a travel advisory on Monday warning caution to UK citizens travelling to the Maldives.

The travel advisory was issued in connection to the conflict between the military and lawmakers on Monday when soldiers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Police obstructed lawmakers from entering the parliament and forcibly removed them from premises when some parliamentarians forced their way in.

The UK cautioned its citizens to take precaution and safety measures while travelling to the Maldives, warning them to stay away from large gatherings and the scenes of protests and rallies.

The travel advisory was the first such warning issued by another country with regards to the incident on Monday.

Meanwhile, a number of foreign entities have also raised concerns over the worsening political situation in the Maldives.
