Saudi Arabia on Thursday gifted 50 tons of dates to the Maldives ahead of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan.

The Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, Muthrik Abdullah Al-Dhausry, signed the agreement on behalf of the Saudi monarch, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.

Representing the Maldives was Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Ziyad Baqir.

Saudi Arabia gifts dates to the Maldives in time for Ramadan every year. The kingdom had donated 50 tons of dates to the island nation in 2016 as well.
