The Criminal Court on Thursday added 15 days to the remand of the prime suspects in the murder of prominent blogger and social media activist Yameen Rasheed.

Police last Sunday disclosed the identities of three men accused of active involvement in the murder, who are Thaif Ismail Rasheed, 25, Ismail Haisham Rasheed, 21, and Ahmed Zihan Ismail, 22. According to Police, the prime suspects have past criminal records.

There are currently total seven people under arrest in connection to the case. While Police have proclaimed to have found definitive evidence to prosecute the culprits, they have yet to reveal the motive behind Yameen Rasheed’s murder.

Yameen Rasheed, 29, of Addu atoll Feydhoo island was found murdered with over 30 stab wounds by the stairway of his apartment building in Male in the early hours of April 23. He had received several death threats prior to his murder, and his family and friends have since organised several rallies and activities to demand justice for Yameen.
