The independent lawmaker of Galolhu South constituency, Ahmed Mahloof, on Saturday met with Former President Mohamed Nasheed in Sri Lanka.

The recently released MP Mahloof stated that he received the greatest strength and support from former President Nasheed and main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) during his prison sentence and, therefore, thanked both the party and Nasheed.

Mahloof was released from jail on June 9 after completing two sentences of total 10 months and 24 days.

He has announced that he will soon join a political party.

The independent lawmaker was previously a member of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). However he was ousted over criticizing the policies of the party.
