An aggrieved customer has filed a lawsuit against the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) after the bank allegedly misplaced a USD250,000 cheque.

According to the lawsuit, Abdulla Arif had issued the cheque to pay a debt which had then been misplaced by the bank causing him to incur MVR10.3 million in fines.

Arif has asked the civil court to hold the bank liable for both the fine and the cheque amount.
