President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom stated that Donald Trump’s victory in the US Elections 2016 to become the next President-Elect has brought some sense of satisfaction, mainly his foreign policy to stop policing the world.

Speaking at a meeting held with some members of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s council at Dharubaaruge convention centre on Wednesday, President Yameen praised Trump’s foreign policy for the US to stop its “policing” and spying on other countries.

“Without a doubt, this is a good thing,” said the president.

“Each country deserves full sovereignty and independence over itself.”

Declaring that no power in the world should have the authority to police another country, President Yameen said that should the USA’s new President-Elect adhere to his vow, there will be more peace in the world with the freedom for people to choose their own lifestyles.

Noting that powerful nations influencing lesser countries is seen in every corner of the world, President Yameen said that such policing of countries has divided the world into a higher and lower level.

However, Trump’s new policy will allow equality for everyone, speaking the same language in diplomacy, declared the president, going on to say that it will provide solutions to many of the current global problems.

In his congratulatory speech to the US’ new President-Elect Donald Trump on Wednesday, President Yameen wished the USA greater progress and prosperity under Trump’s regime, and expressed hopes to strengthen the friendship between the Maldives and USA in the future.
