Live Abroad Maldives (LAM) called on the government to lift the state of emergency due to the negative impacts it is having on tourism.
In a statement released by LAM, they requested to stop the campaigns calling to boycott the Maldives. They stated that all parties should keep the political aspects aside and try to protect the tourism industry.
While LAM called on to end the state of emergency, the parliament had passed a resolution to extend the state of emergency by 30 days on Tuesday.
The association highlighted that international media is closely following the situation in the Maldives and that several countries have issued travel advisories in relation to the state of emergency.
Many have raised concerns about the increasing cancellations to the Maldives since the declaration of state of emergency. Several charter flights have been cancelled which were to come in during summer.
